An exploration well drilled on the Knappen prospect just to the east of the Sleipner group of fields where proven hydrocarbon reservoirs exist in the Paleocene, Middle Jurassic and Triassic, with the latter being the target for this well. The prospect is a large four way dip feature overlying a significant Triassic pod. Well 16/7-11 drilled 97 m of Triassic rocks comprising thin interbedded sands and shale. Approximately 50 m is described as of moderate to good reservoir quality. The sands were water bearing.
