North Sea
28 April 2016

This exploration well, on the Utsira High, was drilled to the northwest of the Aldous Major North and Geitungen compartments of the Johan Sverdrup discovery. Its objectives were to prove hydrocarbons in two prospects. The upper, Gasol prospect, had an objective in Upper Jurassic aged sandstones in the Draupne Formation. The deeper, Gretel prospect had the Permian (Rotliegend) aged reservoir as a target. The well proved a gross 22 m of Upper Jurassic aged sandstone of which only 7.5 m was of good quality. No Permian reservoir rocks were present.
