Where Are They and Can They Be Developed?

As the making of substantial discoveries is becoming less and less likely on the Norwegian shelf, in particular the North Sea, companies are taking a look at the critical uncertainties behind existing discoveries with a view to promoting their development. In March 2006 the Norwegian authorities reckoned that 20 of the 60 undeveloped discoveries would get PDOs approved in the next five years. That would be one third of reserves thought to amount to as muchas 4.8 billion barrels of oil, and 16 trillion cubic feet of gas.
