This was an HPHT exploration well on the Julius prospect located close to the King Lear discovery and between the Gyda (Ula Sandstone) and Albuskjell (Chalk) fields. The well had several reservoir objectives in sandstones of the Ula, Bryne and Skagerrak formations at depths below 5,000 m. The prospect is a large NW-SE trending fault block to the west of, and deeper than, the King Lear fault block. Well 2/4-23 S found a 41 m of gas/condensate within the Ula Sandstone and a 20 m gas/condensate column in the Farsund Formation.
